a deep breath finally

Our mission is to make clothes that are sustainable, inclusive of a wide range of body types, made to last and produced ethically with fair labor standards. We want to build and connect with a community of conscious consumers who share similar values. Here’s a look at how we maintain our commitment to sustainability.

We believe that for total symmetry, the process must match the product.

Hadal garments are designed for permanence.

Hadal garments are designed and developed with a tremendous amount of intentionality.

Hadal is a deep breath in a breathless industry.

In a moment: Ethical. Sustainable. Inclusive. Quality. Permanence.

In practice? This means

Material Choices

We use few textiles. These few are made from natural fibers and deadstock material. Natural fibers are breathable, comfortable and biodegradable. Deadstock material is functional, but sent to landfills when not re-purposed.

The textiles used across all Hadal pieces:

Cotton

Linen

Tencel

Silk

Deadstock

Sustainable Production

Every Hadal piece is made to order to maximize focus while minimizing waste. That means we carry fabric, stitches, but no pre-existing inventory.  That means your order isn’t ready when you place it, but will be made soon thereafter.

Why? 40 billion garments made each year are never sold. And predicted to go up another 60% by 2030. Textile waste is cresting epochal.

Design and Development

Each piece is an idea before it becomes a tangible item. Sustainability and size inclusivity are factored into every step of design and development including ideation.

1. To begin, a base natural fiber is chosen for a piece that balances integrity with comfort, while flattering a wide range of body types.

2. Post ideation is a sketch, a tech pack, and a pattern.

3. Specific sewing techniques & design elements (e.g. fusing, lining) are implemented to match the intensity of use with the climate of use.

Made In-House

We do not outsource our design, development or production to manufacturers in America or overseas. All of our design, development and production is carried out in-house in Los Angeles to provide jobs to our local garment workers and to guarantee sustainable and ethical processes.
